Model agency "Lyuba"
Model agency "Lyuba" is working in a professional model business since 1997. Agency's head office is situated in the Russian city of Yaroslavl.
We completed the whole development cycle for it and now are hosting the site. At the moment the site runs in two languages (Russian and English), soon three more will be added. In our opinion, this work is of particular interest due to its architecture. We were presented with a task of building of a static site not confined to a particular platform or server type, so we could not use a standard DBMS to store its data. At the same time the structure of the site is quite complex. Most pages have context-dependent linkage with other pages and objects, several scales of photo displays, etc. If the site had been developed following the traditional scheme: as a collection of pages and graphical objects, it would have been close to impossible to support it (e.g. add, delete or modify its content). We, therefore, had to introduce a new logical level and develop a very special XML structure in order to centralize and facilitate content handling. According to our know-how the user enteres or changes data in a very simple XML structure. This effort does not require any technical knowledge at all. This layer’s data is processed by our intermediate software, which generates the required set of XML files, respecting all logical relations between them. These XML files are finally processed to result in site’s HTML files. All software and approaches developed for this site can and have successfully been used in other projects.
